Necton Mhura’s body expected in Tuesday
The body of Necton Mhura, who was Malawi’s ambassador to the United Nations, is expected to arrive in the country Tuesday. Mhura died in the United States of America (USA) on Monday last week.
According to a statement released yesterday by the Office of the President and Cabinet, Mhura’s remains will arrive through Chileka International Airport in the afternoon.
“The remains of the late ambassador, Necton Mhura, who until his death was a permanent representative of the Republic of Malawi to the United Nations will arrive in Malawi on Tuesday, 27th February, 2018, through Chileka International Airport at 3:15 pm aboard Ethiopian Airways flight number ET 21,” reads the statement in part.
The statement further states that the burial ceremony of Mhura will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Zomba on March 1.
Mhura served from 2015 as the country’s ambassador to the USA, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Bahamas and Puerto Rico.
He also worked as a research fellow at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom from 1985 to 1988.
Mhura served as dean of the Faculty of Law at Chancellor College of the University of Malawi between 2004 and 2007.
