Neligo Womens Choir to launch second album

New Living Gospel Church (Neligo) Womens Choir which has stunned people with their dance moves during their live acts will on Sunday launch their second album Ndioloke at Robin’s Park in Blantyre.

The group’s member Pastor Triza Gunde said all was set for the launch of the 13-track album which was recorded at One Heart Studio in Lilongwe by Lloyd Phiri.

“We ready and we ask people to come in large numbers and be blessed. Our bless souls with our songs as well as our dance,” said Gunde.

The group loves putting on school uniforms as if they were students and Gunde said they do this deliberately as apart from preaching the word of God, they are also advocating for women and girl education.

“As a group we want girls to be educated and work hard in their studies and we also want women to go back to school. At the moment we are even supporting some students, paying them school fees,” she said.

Gunde said they have utilised popular genres such as House in their songs because they would want to appeal to all the generations.

“We want to minister to everyone and this is why we enjoy the songs by dancing just like what King David did,” she said.

Other artists set to perform at the launch are Mbayani Heaven Glory, Jonathan Chilinda, Wamkaka Boys, Favoured Martha, Mau K, Limbani Simenti, Thocco Katimba, Lloyd Phiri, Princess Chitsulo, George Misinde, Aubrey Kusakala and Donnex Muva.

Some of the songs in the album are ‘Go Konko,’ ‘Sumamva,’ ‘Talapa,’ ‘Ndampeza Yesu,’ and ‘Ndikuthokoza (Banja).

The group was formed in 1997 and has 18 members.

Neligo came to the limelight after releasing their debut album Chikondi Chanu which has songs such as ‘Sawona Wakuyeliko,‘Yesu Ndiye Nyali,’ and ‘Wankhondo Wanga.’
