Nelson Kangunje named in Cecafa squad
Malawi national football team coach Ernest Mtawali has rewarded Civo United playmaker, Nelson Kangunje, with a place in the Flames squad which leaves Thursday for 2015 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia.
Mtawali has also included Fisd Wizards youngster, Levison Maganizo, in the squad that is dominated by seven Big Bullets players.
Be Forward Wanderers goalkeeper, Richard Chipuwa, who was dropped recently, has also been recalled after the coach left out Wizards’ goalkeeper Brighton Munthali.
Mtawali said he would continue giving each and every impressive and consistent player a chance to feature in the national team.
“As I say always, the door is not shut for players that have been dropped. I will continue to monitor them. We need to give every player a chance to prove their prowess. Of course, we are using this tournament to prepare for Africa Cup of Nations, but we also need to get good results to build confidence in the team,” he said.
Mtawali’s troops were drawn in Pool C and they will face Sudan on Monday at Bahir Dar Stadium before taking on Djibouti at the same venue two days later. Malawi will conclude their group assignments against South Sudan on November 27.
