TNM Super League title contenders Be Forward Wanderers are set to lose goalkeeper Nenani Juwaya to Malawi Defence Force (MDF) side after the former Mighty Tigers goalminder opted for military training.
Juwaya and Wanderers Team Manager, Victor Maunde, confirmed that the goalkeeper would leave the club tomorrow.
Juwaya said time was ripe for a new challenge.
“I am very sad to be leaving after so many great times. I am expected to undergo MDF training from Thursday. I have loved my time with the club and I will always remember the special moments we had together. The TNM Super League (title) and The Fisd Cup win is something we will never forget,” he said.
Maunde said Juwaya, whose contract expires at the end of this season, bid farewell to his teammates that he wanted to take up a new challenge.
Maunde said it was painful to lose Juwaya’s services but nevertheless the club will release the goalkeeper to realise his dream.
“We don’t want to stand in his way having served the club professionally. We wish him the best,” he said.
Juwaya was part of Wanderers squad that won TNM Super league title in 2017 and also lifted Fisd Challenge Cup last season.
However, such is not the case at Nyasa Big Bullets where goalkeeper Ernest Kakhobwe was also linked with military training.
Meanwhile, Bullets Chief Administration Officer, Albert Chigoga and Kakhobwe said that the Peoples Team shot-stopper was going nowhere.
Kakhobwe confirmed that he is not one on the MDF shortlist arguing that a namesake might have been the one called for military training.
He said it was just a coincidence that the names were familiar.
Wanderers and Bullets have got upper hand to win the league title this season.
