Netball Association of Malawi revises Fast5 budget
Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) is yet to submit its budget to government to enable Malawi netball Queens’ participation in Fast5 Netball World Series scheduled for Australia in October.
The event will see the world’s top six netballing nations competing in netball’s fast and exciting modified version of the game, one of the most popular events on the International Netball Federation’s (INF) calendar.
Nam President, Rosy Chinunda, said their initial budget of K35 million was being revised.
“We hope to have a new budget by this weekend. We learnt about some development when we were preparing for our budget during the Under-21 Youth Netball Championship qualifiers. Even though we exhausted our funding, we believe that government and the corporate world will come in to support us,” she said.
Chinunda said it was important for the Malawi National Netball Team to take part in the Fast5 event to avoid sanctions.
“Failure to go there might see us being penalised. Malawi, alongside South Africa, will be representing Africa,” she said.
According to the arrangement, the host country and INF provides accommodation and travel expenses to participating teams.
