After a one-week recess, the pride of Central Region netball—the K25 million Gateway Mall Netball Challenge Cup is expected to resume today.
Teams will battle for top spots at the district level while keeping an eye on the regional finals.
Lilongwe Urban games will take place at the Gateway Mall Netball Court.
Central Region Netball Committee Chairperson, Fanuel Katengeza, said the third week of action promises thrills.
“The tournament has reached a crucial stage. Most of the teams have engaged an extra gear to qualify for the regional phase. We anticipate that the weekend’s games will be more exciting,” Katengeza said.
The games were on break last week to pave way for Netball Association of Malawi’s annual general meeting held in Lilongwe.
In Lilongwe Urban race, Boma Stars lead with 11 points from six games followed by Green Sisters Jnr on nine points from the same number of games.
Katalama are third with seven points whereas Black Eagles have six points on fourth position.

Area 30 Sisters have two points whereas Kalulu and Model have no point after playing six games.
Mpico, through the Gateway Mall, is sponsoring the tournament to the tune of K25million. From the amount, K19 million is for prizes whereas K6 million is for administration.
The tournament is also being played in Ntcheu, Ntchisi, Dowa, Nkhota-Kota, Salima and Mchinji districts.
