“There is a change, I have managed to find space in today’s flight and so I will leave today and arrive tomorrow (today) afternoon,” he said.

Mabedi said he was booked on Friday because there was no space in other flights.

Friends of Eric Mabedi spokesperson, Higger Mkandawire, thanked well-wishers who supported Mabedi to successfully undergo a kidney transplant in India.

“We would like to thank the government, doctors at Mwaiwathu and Queen Elizabeth for the support to Eric Mabedi, the media also helped a lot, and Malawians for their prayers and support,” he said.

Friends of Eric Mabedi sounded an SOS that Mabedi needed K20 million to undergo a kidney transplant in India before the government came in with support.

Before leaving for India, the Kwathu Drama Group Director and National Theatre Association of Malawi President had been undergoing dialysis at Mwaiwathu since August last year.

Mabedi has since thanked God for being with him throughout the kidney transplant.

“First of all, I would like to thank God for taking control of everything. Second, I would like to thank the doctors here in India for a successful kidney transplant. I also would like to thank the government, Mwaiwathu, the media and Malawians for their support,” Mabedi said.

The actor was officially discharged on Monday after his last checkup.
