Newly appointed Nyasa Big Bullets acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Escort Chinula, has promised to secure more partners for the team.

Chinula has replaced Fleetwood Haiya who is now Nyasa Manufacturing Company’s (NMC) Managing Director.

Speaking yesterday at Bullets Clubhouse in Blantyre, Chinula said he needed support from all stakeholders to achieve his dream.

“As a club, we need to improve on securing partners. Of course we already have several partners but we want more so that our commercilisation should yield more,” he said.

Chinula, who is also Bullets’ board member, hailed Haiya for pioneering the club’s commercial drive.

“Haiya worked tirelessly and during his tenure to help Bullets achieve a lot both on and off the pitch. It was not easy for the team to turn commercial. Bullets is a model of professional football in the country because of the structures Haiya established,” Chinula, who is also NMC Finance and Administration Manager, said in his acceptance speech.

In his farewell remarks, Haiya concurred with Chinula on the need to have more partners.

“Escort is from within the system. I was working with him jointly and it is partnership that needs special emphasis here. Of course I brought some partners during my time but there is plenty of room for improvement,” he said.

Haiya also hailed stakeholders such as Malawi National Council of Sports, Football Association of Malawi and Bullets supporters and players for their support during his spell.

“It was difficult for me to concentrate on two jobs and I applaud all stakeholders for helping me to achieve this status,” e said.

Bullets Chief Administration Officer, Albert Chigoga, said they settled for Chinula as most of the interviewed candidates did not meet requirements.

“We had over 80 applications and several were interviewed.

We were not satisfied with what was there and decided to go for someone from within the system,” Chigoga said.
