Mchinji-based musician Prosper and reggae dancehall artist Jungle Jex have formed Misuli music group under the label Misuli Entertainment.
One half of the newly formed duo Prosper of the ‘Undisayinile’ fame said Misuli is a metaphor meaning a person who does things competently.
“The idea of a duo started way back. It was initially a platform for promoting music industry in Malawi. However, things didn’t work out as planned due to insufficient funding. In 2021, we decided to sit down and form a music crew using the same name,” Prosper said.
He was quick to point out that Misuli still wants to promote others by bringing needy artists to record under Misuli Entertainment label.
“We are planning to awaken forgotten talents. We want to feature them in most of our projects. We have not forgotten our dreams as Misuli Entertainment label,” he said.
Meanwhile, the group has released its first song titled ‘Zimasintha’ produced by Young Sam of Sam Records.
“Our first track tackles issues to do with life. The person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world.
“You either dismiss it, or you accept that there is much more in the world than you think. Perhaps it is really a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you will find many unexpected things. So expect less, do more,” he said.
Prosper started music in 2000 but he became active last year after releasing ‘Undisainile’.
Jungle Jex started music around 2011 while at Chipasula Secondary School in Lilongwe but started doing music seriously in 2013.
Jungle Jex has a mixtape Nyimbo Zakugulu released in 2017 and an Extended Playlist (EP) Zanu Zanu released in 2019.
