New Finance Bank opens Mzuzu branch
In a move to widen and expand its national footprint, New Finance Bank (NFB) last Friday officially opened a branch in Mzuzu.
NFB Deputy Chief Executive Officer Gilford Kadzakumanja said the bank is excited to be part of the success stories that Mzuzu City is registering as it grows into a vibrant economic hub.
He added that the new branch opens a window of business opportunities for Mzuzu residents and that it will provide exciting and affordable products and services.
Kadzakumanja said the bank is also striving to expand its market base by including the under-banked and forgotten segments of society.
“NFB is tirelessly aiming to have an impact on the macro and micro economic development of Malawians from household level to national level. We are poised to enhance financial prosperity and freedom,” he said.
Among other things, Kadzakumanja said NFB gives its customers a chance to conduct business transactions using modern financial instruments and channels.
In his remarks, Director of Administration at the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Patrick Mhango challenged the bank to embrace a people-centred approach in its operations by, among other things, implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
He said that it is high time banks concentrated on complementing government’s efforts in tackling some of the problems being faced in the various sectors.
Said Mhango: “There are some challenges in the health and education sectors which can be addressed through CSR initiatives. There is need to establish a mutual relationship between NFB and people of the city.”
Mhango also appealed for introduction of competitive products and services and ensuring that the customers are accorded the convenience in terms of access to the bank’s products.
