Toyota Malawi has expanded its Fortuner and Hilux ranges promising more fuel efficiency, improved vehicle stability and better lighting, among other new additions made to the models.

Both models have a Global Diesel (GD) engine and are available in both manual and automatic transmission.

Totoya has assured its customers in Malawi that it will continuously engage in research and development to bring to the market products that suit African roads but priced competitively to reach to all its customer segments.

Speaking during a cocktail to introduce the new vehicles in Blantyre recently, Toyota National Sales and Marketing Manager, Newton Kasilika- Mlagha, said the models were already successfully piloted in South Africa and are now being exported to other African countries, where Toyota is present.

“The new models were designed after thorough research and development and have been made to suit customer needs,” Kasilika- Mlagha said.

The new Fortuner boasts of a downhill assist to lessen backward rolling and has an improved emergency braking system.

Both the Fortuner and the new Hilux have an automatic steering control system, engine capacity of between 2.6 and 2.8 litres, six gear capacity and LED lighting system, among other innovations.

Toyota is looking to maintain and consolidate its presence in the market and is optimistic of good business prospects despite a challenging business environment.
