A tokyo-based used car dealer, JPC Trade, trading under the name Giveucar, has opened shop in Malawi with a promise of better deals by cutting out middlemen in second hand vehicle purchases.

The company is using both an online platform and its newly established offices in Lilongwe to connect buyers directly to Japanese car auctions.

JPC Trade Regional Manager, Andrew Mose, said that the firm plans to establish auction platforms in the country where people will be able to buy Japanese cars locally.

Mose further said his firm will also facilitate purchases of brand new vehicles, apart from used cars.

“We have a number of auctions available. We also have cars in stock. We buy the most popular brands and then stock them because we are members of an auction association in Japan that gives us access to over 100 auction markets,” Mose said.

He said JPC deals with the actual sources of the vehicles which eliminates middlemen and reduces the cost of purchasing the vehicles.

“When you are buying from the source you have a lot of information about the vehicle such as its maintenance record, mileage and grading, which gives you a true picture of the condition of the car.
