Newly appointed TNM plc Chief Executive Officer Arnold Mbwana has said his main vision will be advancing the business while contributing towards growth of the economy through digital transformation.
Mbwana was speaking in an exclusive interview with The Daily Times following the announcement of his appointment on Tuesday.
He said at the heart of this vision is a plan to build and grow partnerships with stakeholders from all walks of life, starting from the local communities that they serve to corporates and the government.
“In line with our brand promise ‘Always With You’, I want TNM to take a leading role in the development of a digital Malawian economy through the power of mobile technology to improve the livelihoods of the people and communities we serve,” he said.
He said if people are given the right tools and made more productive, everyone, no matter their lot in life, will have an opportunity to achieve their real potential.
He said he would push for “a mobile phone or device in every home” agenda.
Mbwana is the first Malawian to head TNM as CEO and his appointment comes after the resignation of Michiel Buitelaar.
“I want to thank the TNM Board of Directors for their confidence in me, and hence entrusting me to lead this great company going forward.
“I would also like to extend my gratitude to my fellow TNM executives and the rest of the TNM employees for their support and readiness to work with me as their leader,” he added.
