Ome Creations Cosmetics, better known as OC Cosmetics, Chief Executive Officer Omega Nankhuni on Saturday launched NGE lipstick at a colourful event which was held at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre.

Omega, who is based in United States of America, said the lipstick was inspired by musician Patience Namadingo’s romantic track ‘NGE’.

“OC Cosmetics was launched in 2013 but today we are launching NGE lipstick. All along, I have wanted to name something in my mega brand, give it a name, whether Malawian or traditional name, but I did not know what to use. So, Dr Namadingo is my best artist and when he released his track ‘NGE’, I had to think about,” Omega said.

She said following the release of ‘NGE’ track by Namadingo, his Facebook page was overwhelmed.

“I felt this was a beautiful song appreciating all beautiful women in the world and thought of creating something,” the OC Cosmetics boss said.

Omega said women cannot do without lipstick in their make-up and that, in her make-up line, it transpired that she has a make-up that a lot of people loved.

“This is one of the beautiful lipsticks in my line and, so, this is where I thought of using the name NGE because it resonated well with beauty but ‘NGE’, being Namadingo’s creating, made me reach out to him through his manager and that is how everything came into place,” she said.

Namadingo was present during the launch, hosted by broadcaster Nicole Kamwendo, and on his menu during his performance, backed by OBK on keyboard, he did not skip ‘NGE’.

The artist actually performed the track upon request from Omega as part of celebrating Dr Namadingo’s ‘NGE’ and lipstick.

“I am humbled with the support which I have received and since we first launched it in United Kingdom last month, it has been such a successful journey. We started with the purple colour but, through requests, we have introduced 10 different shades,” Omega said.

She described ‘NGE’ lipstick as a product that smells good and that it lasts for a long time.

“We are going places because ‘NGE’ lipstick is for all beautiful women in the world. We will now be launching it in Mozambique and then Zambia,” Omega said.

Namadingo, who recently made headlines with his sold-out concert in Mozambique, hailed Omega for utilising his song to create a lipstick brand.

“With her vision after listening to my song ‘NGE’, she thought it wise to create a product for all beautiful women of the world in different shades and I am happy to be part of it,” he said.

The unveiling of NGE lipstick in Blantyre came barely a day after OC Cosmetics launched the product in Lilongwe.

The event also saw make-up artists such as Memory Black showing how good the ‘NGE” lipstick is by applying it live on some of the models who included Miss Malawi contestants and Nation Publications Limited Arts and Entertainment Editor Edith Gondwe.
