The Centre for Youth Development (CYD) has handed over an administration block worth K12 million to Embombeni Primary School in Mzimba which is said would improve working environment for teachers at the school.

According to Primary Education Adviser for Embombeni area, Fiskan Phiri absence of the administration block resulted in failure by the teachers to prepare for lessons, thereby compromising service delivery.

“The administration building will improve quality of education at Embombeni primary since teachers will now have more time preparing their lessons right at the school. Learners will also be able to study as the block also has a library,” said Phiri.

CYD Executive Director James Gondwe said they believe that if the country is to easily develop education standards have to be improved.

“As an organization, we work with communities that are able to support themselves, we need to make sure that communities start their own initiatives then we come in with extra support” said Gondwe.

The administration block project was started by the community in 2017 but failed to complete it due to resource constraints.

The project was then taken up CYD which has completed the project.
