The one-day Nkhotakota Music Festival takes place Saturday with several acts including Erik Paliani and his Jazz Quartet set to perform.
Paliani said people should brace to see the best of jazz at the festival.
“We intend to bring to you the best traditional, jazz fused African music. This one I am excited about,” Paliani said.
Some of the members Paliani will perform with at the festival are Jay Chiling’oma on bass, Lyton Chisuse on drums and Dan Sibale on the saxophone.
Nkhotakota Music Festival Manager, Tor Rand, said Thursday they have been busy making sure that everything is in place.
“Everything is under control. It will be a great festival. Lily Banda was supposed to perform but due to circumstances beyond her control she pulled out, but we were lucky to get Erik Paliani,” Rand said.
Lily, who has just dropped her third album Original Thought, said she is sad that she will not be able to participate in the festival.
Rand said apart from enjoying music and other activities, the festival area will have food and drinks plus areas for local craft for sale.
Last year the festival run for two-days but this year it is only for a day.
Rand said apart from Paliani, the line-up is rich as it consists of Malawian and international artists.
“We have a great variation of artists coming to create a great show,” Rand said.
The festival, which started in 2014, is spearheaded by Nkhotakota Youth Organisation .(NYO) and is supported by players such as Music Crossroads Malawi.
