Nkopola Summer Splash comes up

Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi will on September 17 and 18 play host to what is dubbed Nkopola Summer Splash which will bring on board performances from several artists such as reggae group Black Missionaries, Tanzania’s musician Linah Sanga and Zambia’s B1.

The organisers of the event said yesterday that all is set for the summer splash that aims at giving people the much needed entertainment but also bring families together.

“We are ready with this event and people should not doubt. We started preparing it long time ago and we are now just making final touches. September is also tourism month and so we want to play a crucial role in helping to promote tourism,” Godfrey Kachimanga, who is the Director of Smooth Touch Promotions, said.

Kachimanga said this is not the first time for them to hold an event as they have been in the business having also held another lakeshore outing in Nkhata Bay early this year.

“We are serious with the events we do, we were successful with the event we held in Nkhata Bay and we are also the organisers of the Likoma Festival which is coming up in October and, before that, we thought of treating people to a summer splash at Nkopola,” he said.

With Lake of Stars Festival moving to Chintheche Inn in Nkhata Bay from Sunbird Nkopola this year, Kachimanga said summer splash will fill the gap left.

“Advance tickets are selling at K6,500 and the deadline is September 16. On the day, it will be K8,000 cash or through Airtel Money. There will be two gazebos before the entrance for verification and ticket sales and this is also where tags will be given,” he said.

Kachimanga then said that Linah will jet in the country on September 15 whereas B1 will come on September 14.

“We will have a summer splash that will have lots of activities and apart from music we will also have traditional dances and games,” he said.

Other artists billed to perform at the summer splash include Cindy from Zimbabwe, Moses Makawa, Sly C, Mafo, Bucci, Dalie, Aycee James, Blaze, Malceba, Saint and Active X Band.

Kachimanga also said DJs Reubie and Flame and VJ Ice will be on the decks to entertain people as well.
