Civil Sporting Club Assistant Coach, Oscar Kaunda, has downplayed the Lilongwe team’s back-to-back losses in the TNM Super League, saying his charges are still in title contention.
Civil have dropped from position three to five with 13 points from eight matches on the 16-member log table after losing 2-0 at home to struggling Moyale Barracks on Sunday.
Last week, Civil were shocked after going down 5-2 to rookies, TN Stars, at Kasungu Stadium
But Kaunda said he was optimistic that his side would get over the bad spell.
“As coaches, we have all the reasons to worry for dropping by two places on the standings but I cannot blame the players only. We need to find out what is going wrong in the team.
“We kicked off the league on a high but started dropping points when we travelled to Mzuzu a fortnight ago. We are eight points behind league leaders Nyasa Big Bullets and we are not yet out of contention for the title. We have seven games to wind up the first-round,” Kaunda said.
Civil- ‘who have won four matches, drawn once and lost thrice’-will play Mafco FC at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota District, on Sunday.
