No joy for Joyce Mvula
Malawian shooter Joyce Mvula is yet to realise the feeling of winning in the United Kingdom Vitality Superleague after her new club Manchester Thunder lost a second consecutive game on Saturday afternoon.
Mvula was reportedly in the thick of things as Thunder lost 58-48 to defending champions Surrey Storm at Super Ten in Birmingham.
The Malawian signed for Thunder on a six-month deal from Blue Eagles Sisters.
During the match, Thunder website reports that they went toe-to-toe with the holders.
What made the defeat painful for Thunder Coach, Karen Greig, was that her charges were in control of the proceedings in all but the last quarter.
“But they again played with plenty of passion, skill and composure and the final scoreline today does not reflect their performance,” the website reports.
Nonetheless, Greig remains bullish that her side can turn their fortunes around, starting with their home game with Scottish Sirens next weekend.
Surrey lead the standings alongside Wasps Netball, Loughborough Lightning and Sirens, while Thunder are rooted to the bottom of the table.
