Be Forward Wanderers defenders Peter Cholopi and Lucky Malata returned from South Africa on Sunday after failing trials at National First Division side, Free State Stars.
Wanderers Chairperson, Gift Mkandawire, said they expected the two to start training with their counterparts.
“They were not taken on board by Free State Stars. We, however, thank Free State Stars for identifying them as potential talent and trying them out. We believe other opportunities would open up in future,” he said.
Mkandawire said it was not automatic that the pair would be recalled into the starting line-up.
“Looking at the team’s performance, they have to fight for their spaces in the team. This is healthy for the team as it raises competition. We are up for the TNM Super League title challenge,” he said.
“Wanderers is now on fire. Our players and our technical gurus of Bob [Mpinganjira], Oscar [Kaunda] and Albert [Mpinganjira] are indisputably the best in the league.”
Cholopi declined to take questions but referred The Daily Times to former Flames and Stars coach, Kinnah Phiri.
“Kinnah facilitated the trials; so, we will hear from him,” he said.
Kinnah said he was in a meeting.
