In bid to make the September 26, Knockout Malaria Malawi a success, No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions has also established ties with a South African promoter.

No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions managing director, Craig Rousseau, flew to South Africa on Tuesday to finalise the deal with BRB Boxing Gym owned by Manny Fernandis.

Rousseau said it was important to partner with the South Africa-based promoter to make the forthcoming ‘Knockout Malaria Malawi’ bill a success.

“We are bringing the biggest ever boxing bill in Malawi where boxers will come from all corners of the world. This is why we are living no stone unturned and we are taking on board every stable whom we feel will make a difference.

“Fernandis has since invited Wilson Masamba and Charles Misanjo to camp and spar in South Africa for almost two weeks prior to their fights. The invitation is quite unique because Fernandis will pay gym fees, accommodation and transport,” he said.

In the main fight, Masamba will face Brazilian Cid Edson Bispo Ribeiro for the vacant featherweight World Boxing Union (WBU) title in a 12-round fight.

In the second main fight, Misanjo will take on Maobi Mothiba of Botswana for the World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) welterweight belt.

The bill will also feature boxers from 10 countries and it will be held at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.

Meanwhile, Rousseau returned on Wednesday and is also expected to meet the Brazilian ambassador.

Misanjo is currently in Harare, Zimbabwe training at Delta Force Boxing Academy under Clyde Musonda.

Rousseau has also partnered Tanzania’s top promoter Jay Masangi and locally he has taken on board New Dawn Boxing Promotions managing director Mike Chimaliza.

Minister of Health Jean Kalilani and Minister of Sports Grace Chiumia have pledged to support the bill because it was tackling an issue of national importance.
