No permanent executive secretary at Malawi National Council of Sports for 3 years

Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) Accountant Shephod Boma has been named acting executive secretary, replacing Henry Mereka, who has been moved to his post as Administration Manager, Times Sport can reveal.
Sources indicated that Suzanne Mbejere, who was acting as administration manager, has been moved to the Human Resources department.
“We cannot speculate the reasons behind the changes but it is now two or three weeks since the announcement was made. It is just surprising that the people have been in acting capacity for almost three years,” the source said.
MNCB Board Chairperson Sunduzwayo Madise confirmed the changes, adding that the recruitment process of a new executive secretary was underway.
“Currently, Mr Boma is acting executive secretary whereas Mereka went back to his post. The government is finalising the recruitment of an executive secretary but I cannot say when the process will be through,” he said.
The development comes at a time Malawi is preparing to host Region 5 Games in Lilongwe in December.
The role of an executive secretary at the games is crucial.
However, Madise said Region 5 Games preparations and other events will not be affected.
“At the moment, we have Boma working in acting capacity. He is someone who knows the system. We are sure that things will work out,” he said.
Both Mereka and Boma could not be reached for a comment.
Mereka replaced George Jana, who worked as executive secretary for 16 years, having been with MNCS for 30 years
