No show for Dru Hill

The long awaited show for US group Dru Hill failed to take place on Saturday at Umodzi Park Outdoor Square in Lilongwe.

Umodzi Park Marketing Manager, Temwa Kanjadza confirmed of the cancellation of the show on Friday ahead of the concert on Saturday.

“Yes it’s true; the show will not take place due to other problems beyond our control. We will issue a press statement,” said Kanjadza.

A press statement from Umodzi Park said:

“Disappointingly, Tigere Media, a South African based promoter has cancelled the Dru Hill concert scheduled to take place at Umodzi Park, Malawi on 12 December, 2015.”

It further said a dispute between the artist and Tigere Media, resulted in the unfortunate cancellation of

the concert.

“Those who have already purchased tickets through various ticket selling points in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu will receive a full refund,” read the statement.

The statement does not have enough information to explain what really happened for the show to be cancelled at the eleventh hour.

When contacted later to shed more light on the cancellation of the Dru Hill concert, Kanjadza said she had no comment.

On whether the show would be rescheduled, Kanjadza also insisted that she had no comment as they had issued a press statement.

Dru Hill which is a group popular in the 1990s was expected to share the stage with local artist Skeffa Chimoto.

Some quarters have however, called on Umodzi Park to explain in detail what led to the cancellation of the show.
