Nomads 7 points clear
Pacesetters Be Forward Wanderers defeated Blue Eagles 1-0 at Balaka Stadium Sunday to go seven points clear at the summit of the TNM Super League log table.
Precious Msosa scored for Wanderers before Eagles goalkeeper John Soko stopped Alfred Manyozo Junior’s penalty, which the hosts earned after Micium Mhone’s handball in the late stages of the game.
Wanderers, who also beat bottom-placed Chitipa United 2-1 at the same venue on Saturday, have 28 points from 11 games, followed on second place by Moyale Barracks.
In Mzuzu, Moyale beat rivals Mzuni 1-0 courtesy of Timothy Nyirenda’s goal to jump from third place to second on 21 points from 11 games, one point ahead of third-placed Silver Strikers.
Silver also collected maximum points over the weekend, blasting aside Mafco 2-0 on Saturday before seeing off Red Lions 2-1 yesterday to jump from position eight with 20 points from 10 games.
Silver scored through Matthew Sibale’s brace against Boniface Kaulesi’s lone goal for Lions. The Bankers have replaced from third position Premier Bet Wizards, who lost 2-0 to Blantyre United at Chilomoni Stadium yesterday.
Wizards, who have dropped to fifth place, have 18 points from 12 games. United have jumped from position 14 to 13 with 11 points from 13 games, thanks to Jide Mbandambanda and Mwayiwao Kampezeni’s goals.
