Nomads bar fans
Be Forward Wanderers supporters have been barred from watching the club’s preparations for the Confederation of African Football (Caf) Champions League preliminary round matches against the Democratic Republic of Congo’s AS Vita FC.
The Nomads regrouped on Tuesday at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) where their fans were barred from watching training.
Wanderers face Vita from the weekend of February 9.
Wanderers Supporters’ Committee Chairperson, James Chiutsankhondo, and Team Manager, Steve Madeira, confirmed that the rules and regulations of BSC prohibit the fans from watching training.
Chiutsankhondo said the barring of the supporters from watching training sessions does not mean that they do not value the fans.
He said his committee was talking to the Executive Committee to find a way of accommodating the fans in training.
“It is true that supporters are not allowed to come here and watch the club’s training, after receiving some instructions from our top officials.
“But this doesn’t mean that the Nomads’ family would not have an opportunity to watch their players training in preparation for the Caf assignment. We are trying to find another venue which can accommodate supporters,” Chiutsankhondo said.
Madeira said much as the supporters are eager to watch the club’s new signings, it was important to observe BSC’s rules.
Meanwhile, the Nomads are reportedly expected to travel to Mozambique for a strength-testing match against that country’s league champions, UD Songo, on Saturday
