Nomads cry foul over fixtures

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers have cried foul over the fixtures they are being given in the TNM Super League.

Wanderers team manager, Chiyembekezo Zidana, feared that there was something fishy in the manner fixtures were being allocated to them.

Zidana made the remarks after Wanderers came from behind to force a one-all draw against Moyale Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

“In most cases we play at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday after our rivals Bullets have used the venue. We have never played on Saturday. Even our away games are allocated to awkward times.

“We feel we are all equal and the league should level the playing field by rotating the venues and days appropriately,” he said.

Wanderers lie second on the table with 25 points from 13 games having won seven matches, drawn four and lost twice in the league. They trail leaders Big Bullets by four points.

On Saturday, Wanderers face a tricky away assignment against much improved Red Lions, who are sixth on the table having collected 20 points from 11 matches.

Zidana said they were working on the striking force to finish-off games they are supposed to win.

“We are getting there and very soon we will be scoring freely,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sulom treasurer, Tiya Somba- Banda, said it was not a predetermined fixture that Wanderers were playing at Kamuzu Stadium a day after their rivals, Bullets.

“The fixture was designed before the start of the season. It is just a coincidence that Wanderers have played at Kamuzu Stadium a day after Bullets used the same venue.

“Except for few postponements we are trying as much as possible to follow the fixture which was drafted before the season started,” he said.
