Nomads finish on high note
Resurgent Be Forward Wanderers defeated Red Lions 1-0 Thursday to wind up 2015 TNM Super League campaign on fourth-place with 45 points from 28 games, a big jump from last season’s ninth position.
Versatile attacker Jabulani Linje stabbed in the sole winner on the 50th minute at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, pouncing on striker Muhamad Sulumba’s venomous strike, which scorched the palms of Lions goalkeeper Clement Mlomba. The Lions ‘keeper parried the ball onto the path of Linje.
It was a fourth win on the bounce for the Nomads, who leapfrogged Silver Strikers on fourth place following their 1-1 draw at home against Azam Tigers also on Thursday.
The Bankers slipped to fifth on 44 points, whereas Tigers are sixth on 42 points followed by Lions’ 41 points.
In Mzuzu, Blue Eagles ended on third with 48 points after a goalless draw against hosts Moyale Barracks in another game played Thursday.
Leaders, Big Bullets, who will close the curtain on the season when meeting Civo United on Sunday, are 13 points clear on 63 points.
