Nomads in tricky tie

After back-to-back draws, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host another tricky side Bangwe All Stars at Kamuzu Stadium this afternoon.

The Nomads dropped points for the first time this season following a 1-1 draw against Mighty Tigers two weeks ago before a goal-less draw against Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium last week.

However, Bangwe are not pushovers having only lost 2-0 to defending champions FCB Nyasa Bullets at Mpira Stadium last week in five matches in their debut season.

The rookies boast of talent and experience in all departments.

On the part of the Nomads, they have shown great quality in the early stages of the season with three wins and two draws whereas Bangwe have won one match, three draws and one loss.

Wanderers are on position two with 11 points, just two points behind leaders Bullets, who will be in action against Civil Service United at Civo Stadium Sunday.

If Wanderers win today’s match, they will dislodge Bullets on top of the log table.

Wanderers’ gaffer Mark Harrison said he anticipates a tough match.

“We have enough quality to win the match. We have an idea on how they may play but quality will be the difference,” Harrison said.

In today’s match, Wanderers will be without their top goal scorer Christopher Kumwembe due to suspension.

However, the Nomads have several options in attack including Chiukepo Msowoya, Gaddie Chirwa, Vincent Nyangulu and Misheck Botoman. Bangwe will welcome back some players who missed the match against their parent club Bullets due to the loan agreement.

The team’s coach Mabvuto Lungu knows that the match against Wanderers will always be tough.

“We respect Wanderers as they are a good team but we do not fear them,” he said.

Robert Saizi, Chikumbutso Salima, Michael Tetteh, Hadji Wali and Chimango Kayira are potential match winners.

Elsewhere today, struggling Extreme FC will host Karonga United at Civo Stadium whereas Ekwendeni Hammers will face Chitipa United at Mzuzu Stadium.
