Nomads probed over alleged trespass

Kamuzu Barracks (KB) have asked Football Association of Malawi (Fam) to investigate Be Forward Wanderers over their alleged misconduct during their Airtel Top 8 quarter-final first-leg match at Civo Stadium, Lilongwe, on Sunday.

KB have made the request through a letter which General Secretary, Steve Kakuza, and Vice Publicity Secretary, Albert Midiani, have addressed to the association.

In the letter, KB accuse Wanderers of trespassing into their dressing room before the game at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

“Mr Steve Madeira, Team Manager for Wanderers, ordered the team’s supporters to break the lock of the gate at the corridor connecting the dressing room to the field of play.

“Further to that, we also feel that the unbecoming barbaric acts by our opponents served some intimidating purpose and influenced the result of the game,” reads part of the letter.

Fam Acting Competitions Manager, Casper Jangale, Thursday acknowledged receipt of the letter.

“We are handling the matter. We have called for reports from all stakeholders. The reports have been provided to us. So, we will act accordingly once we finish our investigations,” Jangale said.

Wanderers Vice General Secretary, Chulu Mkangama, said the accusations are baseless, saying they were not aware of the incident.

“Let me not say much on the matter, because it is being handled by Fam, but I am surprised that they did not report the matter to police at the stadium to have the people who broke their dressing room lock arrested right away,” Mkangama said.

Wanderers won the match 0-1 and, the second-leg match is scheduled for Balaka Stadium on Sunday
