Be Forward Wanderers have resolved to award their best players next month.
The Nomads want to award the player s in recognition of their impressive performance that saw them win the Fisd Challenge Cup, Carlsberg Cup and the Bus Ipite Bonanza.
However, Wanderers finished on a disappointing fifth position in the TNM Super League.
Chairperson of the Awards’ Committee, Robert Mbedza, said the presentation ceremony will be held at Chichiri Conference Centre, which is popularly called Comesa Hall in Blantyre on February 4.
Mbedza said fans will vote for the players.
“The payers have done a very commendable job in 2016 where we managed to win Carlsberg and Fisd Challenge cups plus the bus,” he said.
“We, therefore, thought of motivating them. Considering the importance of supporters in the team, we have engaged them to be part of the development. They will be required to buy a K1,000 card which contains players in all categories and they will have to tick on their preference.”
He added that the team intends to make the awards an annual event.
“Before the awards’ ceremony, we will parade our cups in Blantyre townships to give our supporters a chance to see what the team achieved in the course of the year. The supporters will also have a chance to win prizes as their card will qualify them to enter a raffle draw,” he explained.
Mbedza further said that the awards will be separate from the money that every player will get as an appreciation from the team.
“After awarding the best players, we have also arranged that we should honour the most improved and disciplined players. Running the team requires collect ive effort. The players did their part, such that in the New Year, we will not be troubled with transportation,” he said.
