Nomads to release 10 players

Be Forward Wanderers have reportedly resolved to release 10 players on recommendations of coach Elia Kananji and technical director, Jack Chamangwana.

Reports suggest the players to be shown the Lali Lubani exit door include left-winger Mike Kaziputa and striker Mapopa Kaunda due to ill-discipline.

Nomads vice-team manager, Steve Madeira and Kananji were elusive on Monday over the identity of the players facing the chop, saying an official announcement will be made between January 14 and 20.

However, Madeira said the technical department will trim the current squad of 30 to 25 and beef up with three players.

“We had a first meeting as the technical side and we agreed to have a manageable squad. We agreed to release 10 players from the current squad. Of course, we had problems with other players when it came to discipline,” Madeira said.

Kananji said he is short-listing players he wants next season, adding that some players face the exit due to lack of commitment when the team was passing through hard times in the TNM Super League.

“Discipline is paramount. I will recommend those that want to work for me,”Kananji said.

Kaziputa said he is not aware of his possible expulsion.

“I feel comfortable playing for Wanderers because I know this is the best club on this land,” Kaziputa said.
