By Bernard Mhone:

InnoBuild Private Limited has partnered with Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) to co-sponsor the Premier Division with Simama and Sons (Simso) at K10 million.

Both InnoBuild and Bishop Abraham Simama and his sons will be contributing K5 million each annually.

Following the development, the league will be called NRFA Innobuild Simama and Sons (Simso) Premier League Division.

InnoBuild Regional Manager for the North Gift Nyasulu, speaking at the unveiling ceremony Sunday, said their aim was to make the league competitive.

“We have responded to NRFA’s call because this is a Malawian firm and they need to enjoy the benefits. The regional league is a nursery for Super League and national teams,” Nyasulu said.

NRFA Chairperson Lameck Zetu Khonje said the league was heading in the right direction.

“This is a milestone in the region. We have raised the bar and people should expect entertaining and competitive football this season,” Khonje said.

Baka City Patron Alick Zungu, who spoke on behalf of teams, said they were excited that NRFA had secured joint sponsors for the league as teams were spending more than they were getting.

InnoBuild first entered into partnership with NRFA in 2019 when they bankrolled Mzuzu District Football League to the tune of K3 million.

Ironically, the Simso League sponsorship package has been at K5 million for three years and the sponsor has been bankrolling the league for 15 years.
