The National Planning Commission (NPC) Wednesday presented the Malawi 2063 Overall Mindset Change Championship Certificate to Vice President Saulos Chilima.
NPC Director General Thomas Munthali said, for Malawians to achieve the ambitious targets set in Malawi 2063, there is a need for many Malawians to change their mindset and start doing business unusual.
Munthali said Chilima has been in the forefront promoting mindset change and new ways of doing things.
Munthali said Malawians need to borrow the sense of urgency that Chilima has displayed over the years in the way he manages his time.
NPC Chairperson, Professor Richard Mkandawire, said mindset change is becoming a vocabulary among Malawians in the development space.
According to Mkandawire, Chilima has constantly reminded Malawians to operationalise the mindset change concept and start seeing themselves as drivers of development they want.
Mkandawire said Malawians need to realise that the country will not develop by relying on handouts and that the country would also not develop by overlying on development concepts parachuted from developed nations
Chilima has said Malawi needs a positive mindset and a sense of urgency when looking at issues of development.
He noted that with a positive mindset, anything can happen, citing Saudi Arabia, which yesterday beat Argentina in the World Cup just because of having a positive mindset.
Chilima called on every Malawian to play a part in changing the mindset, saying no one should be a spectator in the development game.
