TNM Super League debutants, Ntopwa FC, have signed forward Oriafo Osagie of Nigeria on a year-long deal.
Ntopwa unveiled Osagie at Country Club Limbe Friday.
The West African was on trials at Be Forward Wanderers but did not make the grade.
This allowed Ntopwa to pursue the striker and sign him.
The development came as a boost for the rookies ahead of their match against Blue Eagles at Nankhaka Stadium this afternoon.
The Blantyre-based side plays Masters Security at Dedza Community tomorrow in its third Super League match.
Ntopwa Technical Director and owner, Isaac Jomo Osman, said he believes Osagie will realise his dreams at the club and also inspire them to maintain their top-flight league status.
“We have signed him because we are impressed with his movements and finishing. We are offering him a chance to realise his dreams at our club,” Osman said.
Osman said Osagie is capable of converting half chances and will be an important player in the two weekend games.
“We did not utilise our chances against Mzuni, otherwise we would have collected full points. Of course, a point is not bad for a start but we have challenged Osagie to deliver so that we win this weekend,” he said.
Osagie said he wants to prove his credentials at Ntopwa.
“I am excited that I have joined Ntopwa. I just want to show them that I am up for the challenge. I want to deliver the good results for the team. My target is to help the side qualify for the Airtel Top 8,” he said
