Nyasa Big Bullets pair invited for trials in Ukraine

A window of opportunity has opened for Nyasa Big Bullets striker, Hassan Kajoke, and defender, Precious Sambani, after they have been invited to undergo trials at Ukraine second tier (Persha Liga) side FC Rukh Lviv.

The two players left the country on Thursday to Kenya to process Visa to enable them travel to Ukraine on a date yet to be announced.

Sambani and Kajoke are expected to be back home once they finish Visa process in Kenya.

In a club statement, Bullets Chief Administration Officer, Albert Chigoga, confirmed that Kajoke and Sambani were in Kenya to process Visas.

“FC Rukh Lviv is the club that has invited the Bullets and Malawi national team forward and wingback for trials. The club will keep providing updates on these arrangements,” Chigoga said in a statement.

Kajoke, promoted from Bullets Reserve before the start of 2019 season, was one of the key players as Bullets defended the TNM Super League title when he scored 17 goals, four goals behind golden boot winner Khuda Muyaba.

For Sambani, he had mixed fortunes in his debut season with Bullets having struggled with injuries.

He missed the last part of the season after picking a shoulder injury that ruled him out for eight weeks. In his absence veteran Yamikani Fodya filled the void.

One of the local coaches, Millias Pofera said Malawi has talented players who can shine on the big stage.

“It is an indication that we have good players but our problem is lack of resources to develop them. I am confident that if the players have good coaches and are in good environment they will do well. But they should work hard it is not easy to play at the top level.

“We have Gabadihno Mhango [formerly of Bullets but now with Orlando Pirates in SA] who has shown everyone that he is a good player and I believe other will emulate,” Pofera said.

Last year, Sambani alongside Bullets attacker Peter Banda attended trials at Club Brugge in Belgium facilitated by former Flames coach Ronny Van Geneudgen but were not successful.

Lviv are currently top of the Ukraine Persha Liga with 39 points after playing 19 matches. 54 year old Yurii Bakalov is the head coach and has no national team player for Ukraine. Danylo Kondrakov is the club’s leading goal scorer with nine goals this campaign.

The club is based in Vynnyky City and has 3500 capacity stadium namely Bohdan Markevycha.

During the off season some of the TNM Super League teams have seen their stars travelling abroad in search for deals with foreign clubs.

Bullets defender, Charles Petro, is in Modolva for trials at Sheriff Tiraspol whereas Be Forward Wanderers midfielder, Francisco Madinga Jnr, sealed a deal in Georgia.

Silver Strikers forward, Khuda Muyaba, has joined South Africa Premier Soccer League struggling side Polokwane City on a four year deal alongside Wanderers defender, Dennis Chembezi, who signed a two and half year contract. Kamuzu Barracks midfielder, Chikoti Chirwa, is trying his luck at Amazulu FC in South Africa.
