Nyasa Big Bullets, Silver Strikers clash in Ufulu match

TNM Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets will date cross-city rivals Silver Strikers in a friendly dubbed ‘Boss Ufulu Friendly Match’ at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday.

Initially, Bullets were scheduled to face rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers today in an Independence Day commemoration match at Kamuzu Stadium.

However, the organisers, Nzika Foundation, have replaced Wanderers with Silver as the Lali Lubani Road side is committed with other assignments.

Nzika Foundation Team Leader Gift Nankhuni confirmed the development saying the organisation will foot all the expenses.

“At first Bullets and Wanderers approached us to fund their friendly on Independence Day. However, we did not finish logistics in time; so, we shifted the match to Saturday. However, Wanderers are committed on Saturday; so, we approached Silver, who are equally good.

“We are calling it ‘Boss Ufulu Friendly Match’ as part of celebrating our independence. As Nzika Foundation, we will meet all the expenses and the proceeds will go to charity. We are raising funds for needy college students,” Nankhuni said.

He said spectators will pay K2,000 each at the Open Stands whereas a VIP Stand seat will cost K5,000 each. A corporate boxes seat costs K10,000.

Both Bullets and Silver have confirmed the development, calling on their supporters to support the cause.

Bullets Chief Administration Officer Albert Chigoga said they wanted to keep the team fit.

“We have accepted to play because of two reasons; to keep our players active as we prepare for the second round and supporting the cause for which the game has been organised,” he said.

Similarly, Silver Chief Executive Officer Thoko Chimbali said the team intends to fine-tune ahead of the second round.

“We feel we can give our fans something to cheer about while helping Nzika fundraise for charity,” he said.

Before the start of the season, Silver defeated Bullets 1-0 in the Pamtsemtse Bonanza before beating Wanderers in the final by the same margin.

On the other hand, Bullets thrashed Silver 3-1 in the first round of the TNM Super League.
