Nyasa Finance Capital League kicks off

The Northern Region chapter of the K5 million Nyasa Finance Capital regional league got underway on Sunday with 18 teams participating.
The competition was launched at Ekwendeni Community where Ekwendeni United thrashed Chibwaka FC 4-1.
Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) Chairperson Lameck Khonje advised teams and supporters to be disciplined to improve the standards of the game.
“The prize money at stake is equivalent to the amount we give to outstanding teams in the Simama and Sons Premier Division. We urge teams to refrain from violence. We have engaged the referees committee to ensure that we get good officiation,” he said.
Teams will be split into three groups to determine four teams that will join seeded sides in the second round.
Chibwaka United General Secretary Belekiya Chirwa, who spoke on behalf of the teams, said the competition was timely as it would help them remain active.
“Morale is high because a lot is at stake,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nyasa Finance Capital Administration Officer Rhoda Mwale has urged teams and NRFA would to hard to promote the brand and safeguard sponsorship.
Champions will get K1.2 million, with runners-up pocketing K500,000. The third-placed team will get K200,000.
The golden boot winner will get K50,000.
