Nyasa Manufacturers rescue South pool league
Southern Region Pool League (SRPL) has breathed a sigh of relief after securing sponsorship from Nyasa Manufacturers.
Full details including the amount of sponsorship would be disclosed on August 22 during the launch of the sponsorship.
SRPL chairperson Davie Malunga said it was a breakthrough in their quest to develop the sport.
“We have had no major sponsor for many years. To secure sponsorship is not easy nowadays. Nyasa Manufacturers have come to our rescue,” he said.
Malunga said the sponsorship would help revive the sport in the region having struggled at national events.
“It is not a secret that our teams always struggles at national tournaments. Basically we were failing to impress because most of the teams in the region had no fighting spirit. The teams were not motivated to give out their best because of lack of sponsorship. Of course, we must also commend the teams for playing out of passion to keep the sport alive in the region,” he said.
Malunga said other details including the duration of the league and format would be disclosed at the launch at the venue to be announced later.
“We know everyone within the pool community especially the Southern Region Pool League is excited with this development,” he said.
The league’s chairperson also stated that they were prepared to safeguard the interest of the sponsor and the league.
“We will do anything possible to protect the interest of both parties. We will try our best to maintain discipline,” he said.
