NYFA has new vice chair

National Youth Football Association (NYFA) has elevated MacLeod Munthali to the position of vice chairperson, replacing Osward Lungu who is now the chairperson.
The post fell vacant after Lungu’s elevation following the election of Chimango Munthali as Football Association of Malawi (Fam) executive member during polls that took place in Mangochi late last year.
NYFA General Secretary Thokozani Chimbali, who is also Silver Strikers Chief Executive Officer, said the committee resolved to elevate Munthali due to his experience in youth football.
“Munthali has vast experience in administration of the game especially at grassroots. The committee also believes that Munthali will bring new ideas to the association from a more influential position,” Chimbali said.
The committee also incorporated former Malawi women’s national football team striker, Linda Kasenda, as executive committee member.
Munthali, who until his appointment was NYFA’s executive committee member, confirmed the development Thursday.
“It feels great to be vice chairperson of the association. I will do whatever I can to make sure that we take the game to the next level,” Munthali said.
NYFA will elect new office bearers during an annual general meeting slated for December.
