Opportunity Bank of Malawi (OBM) and Airtel money have partnered to enable OBM customers access their accounts on Airtel money through mobile phones.
By linking their Opportunity Bank account with their Airtel Money account, customers will now en joy the convenience of accessing OBM accounts anywhere at any time.
Speaking at a signing ceremony at Area 23 OBM service center, Airtel Money Country Director, Francis Matseketsa, said the bank has hundreds of thousands of customers and each of these customers relies on bank branches to complete banking transactions.
Airtel Money and OBM have integrated their systems to provide the convenience where the banks customers will be able to link up their account to Airtel Money wallet account and they will also be able to deposit.
“The integration means that customers will now be able to transfer money between their bank and mobile accounts, check their balance as well as ask for mini statement at very affordable fees,” he said.
“Our partnership today will greatly complement the bank’s customer oriented journey. With Airtel Money as a partner, Opportunity Bank’s customers, many of whom are industrious, will be able to securely and conveniently make prudential choices and seize entrepreneurial opportunities,” he said.
OBM Chief Executive Officer, Kwanele Ngwenya, said the bank did a research and discovered that customers travel long distances to look for bank services.
“What we have done is simply to take these services to our customers door step,” he said.
