OBM revenue grows by 40% in five months

Representatives of Opportunity Bank of Malawi (OBM) have revealed that the bank has grown its loan book by 30 percent and its revenue by 40 percent in the first five months of the year, thanks to the loan top-up promotion the institution has been running.

The revelation was made during the grand draw of the promotion in Lilongwe on Thursday, where two lucky customers emerged winners of two tickets to Dubai and China respectively.

Two other winners for the month of May went away with an Apple ipad air and a Samsung galaxy j7 prime Smartphone each.

The bank’s Head of Retail Banking, Howard Bowa, expressed satisfaction with the promotion’s outcome.

“We wanted to grow our loan book and I am pleased to say we have grown our loan book, we also planned to increase our revenue, [as] you know, when one borrows, the bank charges interest, we charge interest to actually raise revenue, I am pleased to say we raised revenue but we also excited our customers with all the prizes in this promotion,” Bowa said.

He further said the bank plans to come up with other promotions in the near future to stir the growth of its business.

The grand winners of the promotion were Issa Kadango who won two tickets to China, Cecelia Mpando won two tickets to Dubai, Origa Makwete was the winner of an Apple iPad air and Judith Nyirenda went away with a Samsung Galaxy j7 prime.
