Old Mutual pumps K4 million into Malawi Defence Force
Old Mutual Life Assurance Limited has pumped K4 million into this year’s Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Inter-Unit Sports Festival.
The games will be held at the end of this month at Malawi Armed Forces College (Mafco) in Salima.
Old Mutual Life Assurance Managing Director, Tavona Biza, said the company believes in responsible business as one of their values.
“So, when we got a request from the Malawi Defence Force, it was an opportunity for us to be relevant to the community we operate in. Some of the products we are introducing are targeting all sectors of the community,” he said.
“Basically, we have normal pension products with respect to individuals. We have recently developed two products— savings product and funeral product—which are affordable to the majority of Malawians,” Biza said.
MDF representative, John Kaputa, said they were delighted with the timely donation.
“Our budget was quite huge. Old Mutual has given us money that will benefit the athletes themselves. Their package will specifically go towards prizes,” he said.
