One Plus 6 dares iPhone X

One Plus is a distinguished Chinese Smartphone maker that has made no qualms about its intentions since its inception; to make a good Smartphone as an iPhone but with a price tag for the ordinary pocket.

This time around, One Plus has a product in its sleeves good enough to rival the troubled iPhone X. One Plus is calling it One Plus 6.

Expected to be unveiled at a spectacular event in London on May 16 2018, One Plus 6 is just as good as iPhone X, all-glass construction. This is a departure from the usual One Plus metal Unibody feature or textured sandstones material.

The launch event has created so much frenzy in London that all early bird $21 tickets for the event are sold out. Those that still need to attend will have to dip $20 deeper into the pockets to get a regular ticket.

For S41, One Plus promises that one will get bootee more than equal to the cost of the ticket; a backpack, T-shirt and S40 coupon towards purchase of the phone.

Why so much fuss about it? Here is why. Fuelled by the monstrous Snapdragon 845 chip, the big 6.28 inch display smartphone has plentiful 6 GB RAM and good-enough 64GB storage. It is water-resistant and dons a finger print scanner.

While both iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy packs 12 MP dual rear cameras and 8 MP front selfie camera, One Plus 6 boosts 20 MP and 16 MP dual rear cameras and 20 MP front selfie camera.

The screen is trendy all-screen (bezel-less) with a small notch at the centre top, now that fits iPhone X bill.

All I am trying to say is that One Plus 6 is a 6.28 inch version of 5.8 inch iPhone X. While iPhone X has 2716 mAh battery power, One Plus 6 has much more; 3450 mAh.

In terms of software enhancements, One Plus says that One Plus 6 will come with advanced facial recognition system that may trash iPhone X’s Face ID.

How much will it cost? Just $520. iPhone X costs $999.

Before you may start to do your arithmetic, here is a cheat sheet; iPhone X stands out on one specification, storage. The 64 GB that One Plus 6 has is actually just a quarter of what iPhone X has.

One Plus is aware of that deficiency and has an answer for you. If you are willing to spend additional $229, the company has a bigger capacity 256 GB version for you. One Plus has even the audacity to throw in more RAM for that price, 8 GB. If you need to know, iPhone X packs 4 GB RAM.

While the 256 GB One Plus 6 costs $749, its competitor, Samsung Galaxy S9 launched on March 26 is priced at $719. One Plus 6 has better memory and camera capacities than S9.

What shall we say about these things? One Plus 6, 64 GB will probably be the winner. It is bigger and faster and after all, 64 GB is not small storage space for a phone. But I need not say more before testing the pudding.

So, let us wait and see. I have no more to say.
