Onesimus dumps Major 1 Records

By Gary Samati

Onesimus has this morning announced that he is no longer with South African based record label Major 1 Records.

The artist broke the news through social media, via his Facebook page.

“The move is a bid to expand my musical reach as I will be making all kinds of music to accommodate different masses. I must underline and emphasise that this move in my management does not change the relationship I have with my spiritual leader Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, as well as my membership to the Enlightened Christian Gathering The Jesus Nation Church,” he wrote.

Having crossed the floor to being managed by Tonderai Banda of Entertainers promotion, Banda was on the fence to neither call Onesimus a gospel nor a secular artist, but referred to him as just an artist.

“Onesimus is just an artist. He will make music about love, the reality of life, but also spread the gospel. If we talk about secular, that will mean we are assuming he will be making music involving cuss words, among others. But he is just an artist,” he said.

Onesimus was formerly addressed as Armstrong before signing to Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s Major 1 Records in 2013.
