Opposition parties want Attorney General removed

Joyce Banda’s People’s Party and seven other opposition parties want Charles Mhango to resign as Attorney General for putting the Malawi government at risk in the Malawi Police Service  food rations contract

The AG, according to the leaked ACB report, got involved when he had knowledge that the Minister of Finance was not the guarantor in the deal as demanded by the law.

But in this case, the report says, the Malawi Police Service was the guarantor to the loan.

“We demand the immediate removal or resignation of the AG as these issues and others have deeply compromised him,” the statement from the opposition reads in part.
