BANDA— We have finalised everything

International acts enliven what is, sometimes, monotonous existence in the arts sector players.

This is what event planner and master of ceremonies Gift Banda seeks to achieve this weekend, when South Africa-based Malawian artist Jotex Jolly Charo is launching his Chuma ndi Mame album at three different venues in the Southern Region.

In tow will be Zambia-based Organised Family, who are back to the country for a performance on Sunday.

The album will first be launched at Kachere Kacha Club in Blantyre on Friday from 6pm till 6am. On Saturday, it will be the turn of Chikwawa residents and others to sample the album, as the launch will take place at Divas Lodge, Nchalo, in the district.

Finally, on Sunday, Chuma ndi Mame will be launched at Zitherepano in Mangochi District.

Guest artists include the ‘Tchove Tchove’ stars Organised Family from Zambia while Evance Mereka, Thimfu from Nsanje, Sir Brighton Banda and Sausten Peter will complete the lineup of local artists.

Charo, in an interview Wednesday, said he was ready to launch the album, which has 10 songs such as ‘Seka Nkudyere’, ‘Chuma ndi Mame’, ‘Tasiyana ku Thupi’, ‘Menyani Nkhondo Mulungu’, ‘Lowani Mtima Wanga Ambuye’, ‘Ndinabadwira M’banja Losauka’, among others.

“I recorded the songs at DJ Lobodo’s recording studio in South Africa because I wanted quality. And, then, I recorded all my songs in Chichewa because I wanted Malawians to appreciate my talent.

“And, now, I have an opportunity to show them that my stage work is second to none,” he said.

Banda, on his part, said all was set for the events.

“We have finalised everything with both foreign and local artists and we urge Malawians to avail themselves of the events and have fun,” Banda said.
