Original Passenger settles for gospel music

Blantyre-based artist Original Passenger, real name Christopher Mbelenga, has said it is high time that people started recognising him as a gospel musician.
The artist has made headlines in secular with songs such as ‘Malodza’.
“In fact I have been a gospel artist, especially from the songs I have been doing, but people have been placing me in secular. Gospel music is part of me and I am comfortable ministering the word of God,” Mbelenga said.
He said young people need, to take a lead role in doing gospel music as part of preaching the word of God.
“Many young people tend to shy away from doing gospel music but God gave us these talents to sing for Him and, so, let us do it. Let us not put gospel or spiritual music as old-fashioned,” Mbelenga said.
The artist is on the verge of releasing a new album titled Son of A King. He has so far recorded over 30 songs.
A member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Original Passenger has a number of songs to his credit and they include ‘Musatope Nane’ and ‘Chimdalitso’.
