Malawi national football team star forward Gabadinho Mhango may have finished the 2019/20 season as joint top goal scorer but this has not stopped his South African club, Orlando Pirates, from hunting for strikers.

Mhango had a remarkable Premier Soccer League season having netted 16 goals to share the Golden Boot Award with Highlands Park’s Namibian goal poacher, Peter Shalulile.

Soccerladuma.com reports that Pirates appear to be prioritising strengthening the attack again in their search for players, with the latest to be linked with the club being the in-form Stellenbosch FC star, Leletu Skelem.

In recent seasons, the Buccaneers have signed some exciting midfielders and attacking players who have done well to become crowd favourites.

Fortune Makaringe, Ben Motshwari, Vincent Pule and Mhango are some of the stars who have come in and done well for the team, despite failing to win trophies.

Skelem has emerged as the latest transfer target for Bucs, with the 22-year-old having impressed with his performances for Stellenbosch in their first season in the topflight.

“Pirates are interested in Leletu Skelem, as they have been following him, and are impressed with what they have seen,” a source confided in soccerladuma.com.

Skelem scored crucial goals against Cape Town City, Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu FC respectively, which all earned the Mother City outfit vital points as the team climbed up the log to finish in a respectable position in their maiden season in the league.
