Seasoned forward Chiukepo Msowoya had a bad night in the South Africa Absa Premier Soccer League (PSL) on Wednesday when he scored an own goal in his debut for Golden Arrows at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Arrows lost the game 5-2 to league leaders SuperSport United.

According to South Africa media reports, SuperSport grabbed the opener just two minutes after restart through Renielwe Letsholonyane before Thuso Phala added the second after 48 minutes.

But Zimbabwean Khuda Mahachi scored for Arrows before Msowoya scored an own goal.

Cole Alexander and Morgan Gould scored the other goals for SuperSport whereas Jooste net ted Arrows’ second goal.

SuperSport top the standings with 28 points from 15 games due to a superior goal difference against second-placed Bidvest Wits who have played a game less.

Msowoya joined Arrows on a six-month deal as a free agent after his contract expired with Nyasa Big Bullets last season.

It is Msowoya’s second stint in the PSL having played for Orlando Pirates where he struggled to establish himself before earning a loan spell at Platinum Stars.

He also played for Rwandan side, APR FC and Mozambican teams, Liga Desportivo Maputo (formerly Mulcumana) and Costa do Sol.

Elsewhere in the PSL, Gerald Phiri Jnr had a grand game as Stars and Pirates drew 0-0.

Phiri was replaced after 90 minutes by Henrico Boates whereas Robert Ng’ambi was also in action for Stars.

Atusaye Nyondo’s Bloemfontein Celtic lost at home 0-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns.
