Pac decries political violence against women
By Bernard Mhone:

Public Affairs Committee (Pac) has urged electoral stakeholders to guard against violence gender-based ahead of the May 21 Tripartite Elections.
Pac Gender Programme Officer, Sophia Nthenda, said this during a capacity-building training on peace organised as part of Women in Faith Programme.
“We do not want political rallies to be hostile environment to women aspiring councillors and members of Parliament. We should guard against cases of violence,” she said.
Northern Region Women in Faith Chairperson, Reverend Margret Kalimanjira, said the training could enable the women to be financially independent.
“Most women do not have enough resources for political activities, which makes them vulnerable to abuse. It is, therefore, important that we have reached out to 100 women today,” Kalimanjira said.
